City life on-line activities (1)

Pedestrian Crossing or Zebra Crossing? Both are correct.

Images help us remember words. Do you like this one?zebra

In September, we started our journey together PedestrianCrossingwith a walk in Palma, guided by Bernat and we learnt some interesting things about buildings in Palma. With Emili, during Spanish lessons, you investigated your sense of direction and you drew a map of the city to get from the Ramon Llull to the Cathedral. You also learnt how to use traffic signs to remember certain ortographic rules in Spanish and their differences with Catalan.Street Signs on Cones

We all talked about the pros and cons of bicycle lanes bicylehtand followed the new cycle tracks debate on the local press. In Catalan, you used your imagination to write about a city under heavy and persistant rain. With Sonsoles, Molly and María, you used Google earth to investigate towns from a different perspective zooming out to get a satellite view of the city.

Next Friday, with Bernat, you will  investigate another part of the city and,  in the coming  weeks,  we are going to carry on learning more things about the city around us.  During English lessons we are going to

  • zoom in and out city life.
  • use compass points to locate landmarks on a map
  • learn more vocabulary to talk about the things we find when we walk around the town
  • describe buildings, streets and city life
  • give and ask directions
  • find our way using a street plan
  • compare different cities, streets and neighbourhoods
  • identify landmarks and most popular citysights

To help you talk and write about your city we looked for  funny and varied on-line activities. images (3)

This is the first set of on-line activities we posted in the blog. After doing the activities, we need your feed back.  Post your comments to these questions

  • Did you learn new words?
  • Is it helpful to have audio to learn pronunciation?
  • Did you find them difficult or easy?
  • Which ones did you prefer?
  • How long did it take you to do all of them?
  • Would you like to have more on-line activities grouped by topic on the blog?
  • Thank you for your feedback!
