2.ca.9 VISITA LÚDICA I FOLKLÒRICA

Ahir vàrem anar a veure un espectacle del Senegal, interessant des del punt de vista lúdic i folkóric, encara que incomplet per arribar a conèixer bé aquest país africà. És com un turista que passa quinze dies a Mallorca i només veu el sol i la platja que hi ha davant el seu hotel. No ha après res de la nostra gastronomia, cultura, llengua, costums, paisatge, etc. Per exemple, l’excursió de dilluns ens ensenyarà que hi ha uns llocs a Mallorca molts diferents a la platja. Aquí tenim muntanyes més altes que alguns països europeus com Holanda o Hongria, que en tot l’estat no hi ha cap puig tan alt com els de la serra de Tramuntana.
Bé, idò, del Senegal també hi ha moltes coses a dir i per aprendre. No ens hem de limitar a tenir una visió de les danses típiques. Així i tot, a més de divertir-nos, la visita ens va servir per aprendre alguns detalls interessants. Recordau la funció dels griots i dels ancians i la semblança que hi ha amb els contacontes i els padrins que contaven rondalles a Mallorca. Coneguéreu alguns instruments musicals africans. El ritme monòton és típic de totes les músiques tradicionals. Recordau els vestits tan elegants, i dos personatges amagats sota una mena de granera o una màscara amb túnica. Les imatges que apareixien al fons de l’escenari, amb figures estilitzades d’animals de la selva. El significat dels gestos, quan el ballarí demanava per casar-se a la dona. Els cossos atlètics dels artistes, en contrast amb algunes imatges d’africans afamegats. La seva manera d’haver après a parlar en català. El tambor que sabia parlar. Les paraules en llengua wòlof. El missatge de pau i amor, …
Hem d’aprofitar les coses bones de la visita. Com el baobab o com la faula de la guineu i el raïm. Sempre hi ha aspectes positius i negatius. Què destacaries tu de la visita?

2.en.15. February outing to La Caixa: Folklore, Griots, storytelling and Senegal. Homework

Folklore: The traditional beliefs, myths, tales, and practices of a people, transmitted orally.

Every culture has its own traditions and folklore. In fact, if we investigate the origin of the word folklore, we’ll learn that it is derived from folklore. This word revived folk in a modern sense of “of the common people, whose culture is handed down orally”.

In the first term, with Emili, in your Spanish lessons you talked about popular traditions and celebrations in Majorca. In Catalan lessons, Bernat has already told you some stories, Rondaies, which are part of the oral tradition of the Balearic islands, handed down from one generation to another.

This month, we’ll go on an outing to La Caixa to take part in a workshop about folklore in Senegal, and in March we’ll have the opportunity to learn more about music and traditions in another African country, Morocco.

In this first outing, we shall learn the importance of storytelling in Senegalese culture, and why the the GRIOTS, professional storytellers, play such a major role in the transmission of values and traditions.

In order to prepare this outing, we’ll do different activities connected with Senegal to find out information about its geography, population, religion and floklore.

In this video you’ll be able to listen to some traditional Senegalese music played by a Griot, to keep you going while you answer the questions.

  10. What is/are the official languages?
  11. What is the main religion?
  12. What is Tiébou Dienn ?
  13. What is a boubou?
  14. Where is Dakar?
  15. What can you find in the island of Gorée?
  16. Who was Léopold Senghor?
  17. What’s the gross domestic product of Senegal? Compare it with the gross domestic product of Spain.
  18. Can you name a musical instrument from Senegal other than the Kora  you saw in in the video?
  19. Can you name any famous musician from Senegal?

Homework: Senegal web race

This time it is not a Paris Dakar race, but a web race to see how long it takes you to answer this set of questions. Deadline  will be next Friday. Rules: One person, one answer. Follow the order, and correct  mistakes if you discover any in previous answers. Part of the homework is copying the whole set of answers by Thursday, so we’ll be able to correct it together on Friday. Maybe you’ll surprise me and you’ll have finished  everything by Tuesday, let’s see. As usual, post your answers to the blog.
